This workshop held on December 13th, provided participants with the opportunity to learn about the plan and comment on the Plan's draft goals and recommendations. Approximately 70 participants were in attendance. A summary report and meeting materials can be found below.
The Town of Riverhead held a public workshop on its Comprehensive Plan Update at the Suffolk Theater on Saturday, April 22 at 10 AM. There were approximately 125 attendees. Links to a recording of the meeting, the presentation slides, and the summary notes are below.
At the meeting, the consultant team first presented an update on the planning process. They then provided an overview of issues and opportunities for a variety of topic areas. After the presentation, participants split up into smaller groups to discuss issues in more detail.
Feedback from participants will help to ensure that the Comprehensive Plan is representative of the community as a whole and that it includes realistic and publicly supported goals and objectives. There will be a second public workshop in the Fall and subsequent public hearings before the Plan is considered for adoption.
A questionnaire was sent to the Town's various boards, commissions, committees, and civic groups. The purpose of the survey was to invite those groups to submit formal recommendations for the Comprehensive Plan in the form of a short memo. The documents below were submitted for consideration.
A series of focus group meetings were held in May and June 2023 to discuss key issues with content experts in the community. These stakeholders included representatives from various boards and committees as well as department heads. A recording of each meeting can be found at the links below.
The Town and its previous consultant team completed public outreach, research, and analysis for the Comprehensive Plan between 2020 and 2022. The multi-faceted public engagement included a series of in-person and virtual meetings, a public survey, and online engagement.

The first workshop will be in March (date TBD), and the second will be in the fall, once recommendations are ready to discuss with the public. Stay tuned for updates.
